Some home defense devices are designed to absorb some of the EMP damage, but other devices are more suited to protect a room.

So what can you do to protect yourself from EMP?
There are a few things you can do to help protect yourself against EMP.

This kind of shield will also prevent damage to the home, but Smith says that the shield may need to be replaced if the barrier becomes damaged.
“A barrier that absorbs EMP is good for 10 years,” Smith explains, “but it will need to get repaired every 10 years or so.
If it breaks, the house will be in real danger of EMP.”
Purchase a device like a wall shield, Smith suggests, that absorbs all the EMP power from the device.
“You need to have the ability to withstand that kind of EMP,” he says.
Smith suggests using a shield that has a strong connection to the device, like a magnet.
Install your device with a battery.
“Battery-operated devices are really good at absorbing EMP,” says Smith.
“It will absorb the whole EMP,” because the battery will charge it every time the device is activated.
But a battery-powered device will need a lot of power.
“There is no battery in the device that will last a long time,” Smith notes.
He says batteries can last up to 20,000 hours.
“So you need some kind of energy storage,” Smith adds.
You also need to install a backup generator if the device fails, so that the device can be shut off after the EMP event.
You could also use a backup battery to charge your device during the EMP attack.
“All of these things have to be connected in some way to the outside world,” Smith cautions.
“That’s not good.”
Install an air filtration system to keep your home safe.
“Air filtrations help to prevent the EMP, but they also provide the protection,” Smith suggests.
The air filters should be connected to your home wiring system.
He also says air filts can be used in your basement to protect against EMP damage.
Buy a home defense system, like an EMP protection system, to protect you from EMP attacks.
“These systems will take a lot out of you, but it will also protect you,” Smith concludes.
“They are designed for this type of situation.”
The EMP shields you buy can have a battery life of up to 50 years.
They can also have a rechargeable battery that will charge them after the attack.
The cost of a solid shield is usually about $500.
You may also want to consider a barrier, Smith recommends, because the cost can go up if the shielding becomes damaged during the attack, as Smith says will happen when a device fails.
